Twelve Trials – Give Mike a Cookie

This week, we catch our breaths a bit and I will let our leader tell you more –

Week Four: Give Mike a Cookie – Take a break and break open your wallet to help support our wonderful Mike’s upkeep of our internet home.  Every donator this week gets a banner, this year, so help contribute to paying Ad Astra’s bills!  As a bonus, this would also be an excellent week to write to your politicians about keeping the internet open and free, too, a subject near and dear to the hearts of all of us (not that you shouldn’t do it before now, too!)

Twelve Trials of Triskelion – Week 03 2015!!

It’s the Twelve Trials of Triskelion – Week 02 2015!! This week is the Steal All the Toys challenge. Again, our leader has provided instructions –

STOP!  THIEF!!!

–not really.  In fact, in Week Three, the Steal All the Toys Challenge, you are not only supposed to steal someone else’s universe, you’re encouraged to do it with style!  Take it to a body shop, put some chrome rims on those bad boys!  Add some undercarriage lights!  Trick it out with nitrous oxide!  You are encouraged to go as far as you like with the unlocked universes left in the unattended parking lot thread; the only requirement is that the entries be over a thousand words.

While you are allowed to start writing for this challenge before it opens, you’re not allowed to actually post it until this week.  So feel free to get a jump start on it!  You can collaborate with the original universe’s author, but it’s not required.  And if you do, the work has to be yours.

So, let’s see where all your joyrides take you!  And after a week of voting, who drives away with the trophy, too!

Just look at all these unlocked universes!

Twelve Trials of Triskelion – Week 02 2015!!

It’s the Twelve Trials of Triskelion, week 02 of 2015, thralls!

Once again, our leader has provided instructions –

For the Week Two Square Dance Challenge, you will continue to work your reviewing muscles with a team of your peers!  Starting on May 24th, this challenge pits team against team.  You will be divided up equitably and sensibly to maximize your effectiveness and your job is to assign a story and a review to the next person in your team, then they assign the next and so on.

You may choose to do this via a system, ie, a set order for your group.  Or you may choose to just go chaotic, but you cannot skip anyone; everyone has to get a turn to dance each round.

Stories passed on must not have been reviewed by the person they’re being passed to before.  They must be 5000 or less, or they may be the 5000 or less first chapter of a larger story.  Once a person has started a story, you may assign them the next chapter if they so choose to continue it.  The key here is communication.

Team scores are on straight up review word count.  So get in depth, meta at the author and really leave quality reviews.  Whichever team has the highest score at the end of the week wins!  Your assignments will be handed out sometime in the middle of Week 1, so that you can coordinate how to tackle week two.

Teams: To be determined.

So get ready to review! And put that phaser down. It’s all fun and games until the phasers come out.

Square Dance signups are here.

But Captain and Mister Chekov, you don’t review using phasers! Or do you…? (image courtesy of TrekCore)

Twelve Trials of Triskelion – Week 01 2015!!

Thralls! It is time, once again, for the Twelve Trials of Triskelion! This is Week 01 of 2015.

During this week, your mission is the Ficlet Flashdance! Here’s the message from our leader –

Well, hello thralls!  So good to see you here.  This opens on May 17th, your overseer’s thirty-fifth birthday, so you had all better participate or your pain compliance collars will be ALL AGLOW!  BWAHAHAHA!

Ahem.

Week One: The Ficlet Flashdance.  Far and away the most popular event since the beginning of the Twelve Trials (okay, so this is only year three, but that’s still pretty good!), this event tests your dedication, your writing muscles and your ability to turn out 500 words or less of quality material every single day for seven days.  You do not have to write them all as one series of stories, they can stand on their own.  Or, they can indeed be a part of a series.  Any which way, the fic has to be posted by midnight.  This year, in deference to all our different timezones, it may be not be posted before midnight your time and it may not be posted after the following midnight.  That means that the day starts and ends for people in Europe before it does people in the US.  That should give some leeway, but not too much.  The very final entry by West Coasters definitely ends the day, unless you can prove to me you’re in Alaska or Hawaii. XD

Best completed set by each other will take the prize at the end of Week 2.  So, do me proud!
